Damerham Ducks

My family and I attended the annual Easter Duck Race at Damerham Village on the 23rd of April. Its where they release many many plastic yellow numbered duckies into the river, and the person who bet on the winning duck wins £100

These guys help the trapped ducks out of weeds and obstacles.

Barrow Cemetary

On the 22nd of April 2011 I visited the Oakley Down Barrow Cemetary, located in East Dorset. I walked there following the Ackling Dyke Roman Road. This road stretches for about 25 miles from Old Sarum at Salisbury to Badbury Rings, and is thought ot have been constructed sometime during the 4th century.

The road stretches ahead. Dead straight and very wide, typical of roads from this Period.

A large piece of flint. The road is littered with fragments of flint.

 A Barrow cemetary can be accessed from Ackley Dyke. There are a number of burial mounds, as well as about 5 Disc Barrows. Disc Barrows are a relatively rare example of Bronze-Age earthworks, and are seldom found elsewhere other than the South West of England.
